#800gCHALLENGE® At The Rez

If you’ve joined in on my challenges before you’ll know a couple things I obsess over; One, whole foods, whole foods, whole foods and Two, veggies at EVERY meal. I’ve been following EC Synkowski, Owner of OptimizeMe Nutrition and Founder of the #800gChallenge® for a while now and the more I listened to podcasts and read what she had to say, it jibed with my own personal practice.

So I’m sure you’re dying to know…. “what is the #800gChallenge?!” well, I’ll give you a few details, but you’ll have to make sure you attend our meeting to get the full run down and bring any questions you might have.


The #800gChallenge was designed by OptimizeMe Nutrition. Eat 800 grams (g) of fruits and/or vegetables, by weight, per day. 

No foods are eliminated, but only fruits and veggies count toward the 800g. Eat the fruits and veggies of your choice. Hit the macros you want.

Raw, cooked, canned, frozen; doesn’t matter!  If you can weigh it as a standalone and unprocessed fruit or vegetable, you can count it. Yep, that’s it! Here’s a cheat sheet to help you be successful in this challenge.

So why 800g? It’s associated with increased health and is a simplified way to hit those recommended servings of fruits and vegetables. Read more here.

Why do I love this challenge & what do I hope to accomplish?

First things first – the holidays are approaching and I want to help all of you be successful during the holidays. I hope this helps you all learn more about balance and that you don’t have to give up all the “bad things” create a healthy lifestyle. I want to avoid the New Years resolutions of “well, I really wanna lose 3 pounds”.

Additionally, the CrossFit Open is almost here (yes, again!). This will give you a better idea of how to properly fuel yourself during more “competition style” workouts. Also, I LOVE the fact that we will learn how to use a food scale properly without going the full monty of counting macros. Don’t worry, if you don’t understand anything about a food scale we will review this at our meeting, so it is very important you show up! Speaking of showing up here are a few more details.

Prizes…. what if I told you, you could win money by eating fruits and veggies and following a few simple rules? Oh, and you’ll be creating healthy habits and a new lifestyle while you’re at it. I would say that’s a win-win situation!

I am super excited to take this journey with all of you and I hope to see some new faces in this challenge. If you’ve been on the fence with the last two challenges, personally, I would Highly recommend that this is THE best place for you to start! I hope to see you all on September 28th.
